Young People

With a background in working with vulnerable children I am passionate about supporting young people to be able to identify, process and communicate their feelings and emotions. I believe these are building blocks to healthy relationships, self awareness and good mental health as they transition into adulthood.

Working therapeutically with horses and spending time outdoors in nature supports young people in learning to regulate their emotions, express themselves, build confidence, and put in appropriate boundaries. Helping young people process difficult experiences in a safe and contained way and without the reliance on verbal communication.  Horses are extremely grounded and place no expectations on clients.

Combining Equine Assisted Therapy and Equine Assisted Learning at Silver Horse we also provide a creative, nurturing environment for young people who are not engaged with school, are on a reduced timetable or are home schooled. We emphasise outdoor learning, hands-on experience, child-led exploration, and a connection to nature to foster creativity, resilience, and personal growth.

Sessions with young people are tailored to the individual and gently guided by myself as the therapist. They are often creative, playful and insightful.

We have worked with the Local Authority and the YMCA and I am currently a member of the Professional Therapeutic Partnership working with local young people who have struggled to engage in traditional therapy.

We are able to accept referrals from parents, carers and agencies working with young people age 10 and over. Please call or email for more Information on prices and funding or a referral form.
